Jo Cox 'hero' Bernard Kenny receives George Medal posthumously
The widow of a man who tried to stop the murder of MP Jo Cox has received the George Medal on his behalf. Bernard Kenny was stabbed as he intervened when Thomas Mair attacked Mrs Cox in Birstall, West Yorkshire in June 2016. The 79-year-old died of cancer in August, two months after he was honoured for his bravery. His widow Doreen Kenny was presented with the award by the Queen during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Mair stabbed Mrs Cox, the MP for Batley and Spen, 15 times and shot her three times. Mr Kenny was seriously injured in the attack, but the cause of his death was not believed…
