Ghana In Need Of A Profile Artist/Sketch Artist

There's been a recent surge of murders here in Ghana and notable among them is a journalist of the Tiger Eye PI team, Mr Ahmed Hussein-Suale. He was shot dead by two men on a motorcycle on the 16th of January this year close to his family home at Madina, a suburb of Accra in the full glare of the public. I remember my first reaction when I heard this news. The whole nation was shocked and almost everyone wanted the killers found and made to face the law as soon as possible.

Tiger Eye PI is a private investigative agency that operates both in Ghana and internationally. Their mission is to uncover truth wherever and whenever it's required even under strenuous conditions and Ahmed Hussein-Suale is a key member of the team. His participation led to the Number 12 expose in Ghana which led to the Ghana Football Association president being suspended from football by FIFA indefinitely and given a fine. He was also part of the team that worked with the BBC and uncovered the sales of human body parts for rituals in Malawi.

“A lot of people have described them [the killers] and we are also trying to get cartographers who can give us artistic impression about who they are, to help in identifying them. So far that is where we are,” ACP David Senanu Eklu told journalists.

Six people are currently in police custody to help with investigations. A few eye witnesses have described the assailants and the police have announced that they are trying to get sketch artist to help them get an idea of how the suspects look like. If you know any visual artist around who can help, you should probably find a way to get them to Ghana.

It's sad that whiles others are now using softwares to make out suspects because of artists might not truly reflect the reality because of some inherent bias, Ghana doesn't even have the artists to begin with. It's sad but seems we are very far behind. A friend of mine said the security we have is equal to the criminals we have and that, if the criminals upgrade to more sophisticated measures, the security forces will also raise their standards. We wait and see if and when this perpetrators will be caught and we all hope it will be soon.
