Feeling a Mellow Groove
So I am sitting here working on the computer, listening to music and some tracks came on that put me in a good mood and reminded me of my younger days. I figured I would share some of that with you today.
Keep in mind I used to be a hip-hop head when I was younger but I still enjoy listening to old school tracks and some new school stuff.
These tracks that I'm about to share this from one of my favorite rappers that some of you may know. He goes by the name Phonte. He is from Greensboro, North Carolina might know him from the rap trio group formerly known as Little Brother. Little brother consisted of artists: Phonte, Big Pooh, and Producer 9th Wonder.
Phonte then went on to being part of a duo known as The Foreign Exchange. This is where he teamed up with producer Nicolay, a multi talented musician from the Netherlands. The interesting thing about the first album The Foreign Exchange had recorded was over the Internet and without ever meeting each other in person. The first album they release was appropriately titled Connected and was released back in 2004. This album blew my mind and is one of my most favorite albums.
Here's one of the tracks I was listening to titled "Nic's Groove" - featuring Rapper Big Pooh
Here is another track titled from the album that was remixed on Nicolay's Dutch Masters Vol.1 Mixtape. I like both the original and remixed version but this was the one I was listening to today. This track "All that you are" was remixed from Nicky Van Halen's 1987 Monsters Of Rock Tour featuring Median.
You can listen to the full albums below.
