Climate change has been one of the most talked about topics of 2017, and for good reason. If left unchecked, it’s going to completely change the way that countries around the world function and exist. We are now at the point where adopting a greener lifestyle isn’t a choice, but rather a necessity. This means that the world must work together as a collective to make the shift away from dirty energy sooner than later. While there are major cities around the world pledging to go 100% renewable in the next few years, we need more action and cooperation if we’re going to be able to combat climate change.

The Current Energy Model Is Flawed

Adopting a greener lifestyle doesn’t mean that we have to cut back on energy production and consumption, but it does mean that we need to change the way that energy is produced. Right now, there hasn’t been enough of a push towards green energy to get the ball rolling as fast as it needs to go to bring about positive change. Much of this is because of the way that the energy industry has traditionally operated, which was more like an elite club instead of an essential component of modern society.

It is impossible for me to even imagine a life without energy. So, why is something that is so important to societies around the world monopolized and does not share benefits with everyone? The energy industry as a whole was historically built on the foundation of exclusivity and the need to maximize profits, and unfortunately, this has had a negative impact on how global societies have been able to progress.

Because of this, investments in green energy have been limited to a select few, denying the public to voice their opinions about a topic that very much affects them as a whole.
How WePower Brings about the Necessary Change

The way we’ve managed energy in the past has been ineffective and disastrous for the environment, which is why the success of green energy depends on its ability to be inclusive. The good news is that WePower aims to put the “we” back into energy production, consumption, and investing by giving everyone an equal seat at the table.
