Smartphone apps spying on users

The Technische Universitat Braunschweig have compiled the Privacy Threats through Ultrasonic Side Channels on Mobile Devices report. According to the study smartphone apps (and most wearables applications) would catch inaudible signals from televisions and other devices to establish what viewers are watching and/or listening.

Apps could be used to de-anonymise Bitcoin/cryptocurrency users by revealing the relationship between their Bitcoin address and real-world identity, through the ultrasonic signal transmitted whenever a payment is made.(Techworld)
