BLOCKCHAIN IN SIMPLE WORDS by Vadim Onishchenko
Hello everyone!
My name is Vadim Onishchenko and I’m glad you’re reading this. Being the founder of SELFLLERY I have a lot to tell you, but first I have to introduce myself and start from the basics. Who am I, why and how I founded this platform linked with the use of Ethereum blockchain?
I’ve been a photographer as long as I remember myself. I was born in Ukraine, but when I was 14, I emigrated to Israel. For many years I travelled the world to take photos, especially of wild animals in Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania. My own photo archive now exceeds the count of 100,000. Is this a lot? I don’t know, I just keep doing it. I got some awards for my shots, and I had plenty of work.

But at the same time I was interested in making something that would help my fellow photographers to share their shots among the community. Keeping this in mind I created Photoliga by photographer for photographers. Of course I know what Instagram is, but it’s a totally different thing. It’s about showing off, and Photoliga is about the community.
Photoliga was a successful project, it still has a lot of photos uploaded daily. But then I thought, how could I expand the idea to promote it further, to make a platform where both professionals and amateurs could put their photos and actually get something worth their time. I had a feeling I could do something bigger, use all my experience and make it serve the people.
All social networks were on the rise those days, their profits growing, but their users still weren’t getting anything. And the idea of SELFLLERY came to me.
New age coming
Why does it use the Ethereum blockchain? Let me tell you what do I think of blockchain technology. Blockchain is revolutionary, it removes the need in third party, it can work on its own, thus reducing the cost of operation. Everyone can understand it, it’s not something magical. Just a sequence of blocks. But this sequence can’t be rewritten, it’s like it’s carved in stone forever. It gives us the opportunity to create smart contracts, where we can define the rules between two parties. For example, if you get 10,000 likes on SELFLLERY, you get two ETH I’ve sent to smart contract while signing it. And if you really get these likes, you get the money even if I change my mind, even if I want to get back my Ethers somehow. In any case blockchain guarantees transparency, and triggers come together with smart contract.
Why is it important?
We live in the age of self-driving cars and flying drones, it’s time to change. All these tendencies, including blockchain and cryptocurrencies, can’t be ignored. People define and change the future, and it could be you who defines it, and you can do it according to your vision, or it will be someone else. Talking about myself, I’ve changed a lot, because I want to participate in this future. To stay relevant, you have to understand what’s going on. Blockchain technology is something that will be useful for anyone regardless of your profession. And these cryptocurrencies are the thing that’s going to stay, and the earlier you get into it, the better for you. Do you want to stay relevant?
