Tradeqwik Announces Gradual Weekly VIVA Peg Increase and Posts Events Calendar
It's time to talk about the increase in the VIVA Peg. The VIVA token itself was originally designed to represent the hourly income you would need to be earning 24/7/365 in order to live reasonably comfortably in a developed nation. Obviously, there is plenty of variation on what it costs to live in different parts of the developed world. A great example is the cost of rent in Manhattan, New York, vs. rent in a medium sized Midwestern city, and that is just within the United States. VIVA Crownholders have been discussing all aspects of this challenge for months, and finally settled on gradually increasing this peg from its then current peg of 1 VIVA = $5.50 to its new peg of 1 VIVA = $10.00.
While we're on the subject, this is a good time to talk a bit about VIVA Crowns which you can also purchase on Tradeqwik. A Crown is actually a soon to be released software license that allows the owner to run a mint to create new VIVA tokens. Each Crown entitles the owner to mint a set amount of VIVA, which is determined based on the VIVA Peg. A huge responsibility that comes with owning a Crown is to discuss and vote on the next VIVA peg. The goal behind setting the peg is to preserve purchasing power. We want one VIVA to continue to be able to purchase what it can purchase today. Since the US Dollar and many other national currencies are inflationary, this means that the price of VIVA in terms of those currencies will trend upwards with the Crownholders directing it. In other words, VIVA is not determined by the whims of the cryptocurrency market. VIVA is directed by its Crownholders. You are considered a VIVA Crownholder if you own at least one VIVA Crown. Tradeqwik is the place to pick up your VIVA Crowns and your VIVA.
Tradeqwik has market orders set up to support VIVA at its current price (now $5.78) in terms of the other currencies we support. Below is the schedule to let you know what VIVAs will cost in terms of US Dollars over the next twelve weeks until the new peg of $10 is reached. When purchasing VIVA, do keep in mind that we always allow for a spread of ten percent on either side of the peg to keep the speculators interested. Also on the calendar is the period of nearly a week when Tradeqwik will disable all Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals in order to deal with whatever is going to happen with Bitcoin on August 1. Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals will be disabled from approximately July 30 to August 4. Please plan accordingly. Trading of Bitcoin will still be enabled during that time.
