City Cartoons: Amsterdam
This is the first out of a new series I am doing where i do a cartoon piece on interesting cities i have been. I will share my experiences of those places and add some cartoonized pictures of those cities to make the story more attractive and in sync with my style.
I am gonna start of with Amsterdam as I am Dutch and have boatloads of Amsterdam pictures and stories.
Amsterdam is famous for it's canals (sometimes referred to as Venice of the North, which i think is nonsense) as the center is made up from a ring of canals.

For a lot of people Amsterdam is synonymous with coffeshops and the red light district, which i have to admit both are quite entertaining, but are only a part of the delights Amsterdam has to offer.
In my opinion the Amsterdam museums are much more interesting than the ladies of pleasure or the pleasurable herbs. At the museum square you find the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum.
The Van Gogh museum houses the world's largest collection of Vincent van Gogh paintings.
A funny fact about the Van Gogh museum is that has been the decor of the worlds silliest art theft. In 1991 thieves stole 20 paintings from the museum, one of them being the famous painting "The Potato Eaters". The thieves managed to escape with the paintings but left them visible in an abandoned car, where they were recovered after 35 minutes. When the thieves came back later to pick up their trophies, the police was waiting for them and they were arrested.
One of the other famous museums on the museum square is the Rijksmuseum.
This gorgeous building was designed by Pierre Cuypers and houses the largest public art history library and reaearch facility in The Netherlands.
