RED TIDE

Whenever the "red tide" spreads it's scummy orange on seawater, people swear off seafoods and thousands of fisherman in the infested area are deprived of their livelihood. The "red tide" is a oceanographic phenomenon caused by a toxic reddish, orange substance created by microscopic organisms called dinoflagellates. These microscopic dinoflagellates are ingested as food by edible mollusks like mussel, oyster, clam, sea crab, alamang(small shrimps), and dilis(anchovy). The poison accumulates I their digestive glands and people eating these infected sea food will suffer from Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP). They will risk severe illness or even death.
