The developers talked about the mass of problems that arose when activating Constantinople in the test network

A couple of days ago, the long-awaited activation of the Constantinople update on the Ropsten test network took place. It occurred at block 4,230,000. However, as a result of this activation, Ethereum developers didn’t get exactly what they expected.

As CoinDesk informs, the upgrade process went through with a lot of various problems and bugs. For example, at one point the blockchain Ropsten “braked” on block 4 299 999. The reason for this behavior remains unknown to this day. It is believed that the reason was the reluctance of miners to support the update.

After a certain time, everything returned to normal - a block with activated Constantinople appeared. True, very soon the developers were faced with another problem related to transactions. Operations simply did not occur.

According to the manager of Parity Afri Shodon, this is again connected with the miners who have not updated the software. He noted that the calls of developers to maintain the stability of the test network did not help much. Also in her tweet, Shodon writes that the problem touched the consensus on the Ropsten network, which eventually provoked a “three-way” hardfork between Ethereum clients like Geth and Parity.

Project Manager Parity has no doubt that this year the official launch of Constantinople should not be expected. Developers need extra time to solve all their problems.
