APPLE PIE ALA'MODE - A USA FAVORITE!
This is the best apple pie I ever made! A series of events could of made it great, who knows, lol!
These were made from a local Richmond, VA USA fresh farmer - Apples!
Hungry yet for some apple pie? lol!
Start with fresh local apples from your local farmer or farmers market!
Wash them well, although they do not have anything bad on them, local organic produce is awesome!
Chop them up well, I left mine a little big as they will shrink a bit when cooked.
Getting the pie shell ready! I used a Gluten Free All Butter Whole Foods Pie shells! They are divine.
Mix fresh cut local apples, with 1/4 cup brown sugar,
2 Tbs. Cinnamon, 2 Tbs. Sugar,
6 Tablespoons real butter
- Cook on the stove on - medium for about 5 minutes...then let simmer on very low for another 10 minutes.
Stir while simmering, it will have a lot of liquid, this will all go in the pie shell.
The pie shell was baked, put fork holes in it for about 6 minutes on 350.
Use tin foil for the edges as it won't burn the outside pie shell crust.
I let this cool down for about 15 minutes so it would not be too hot when I pour it in the pan next.
For the topping I mixed
1/2 Cup Gluten Free one to one flour- if you are not gluten free then use your favorite flour. Then I added
1/2 cup Shortbread Gluten Free cookie mix and
add 1/2 cup brown sugar,
1/4 C. sugar and
1 stick of real butter chilled and cut into very tiny pieces.
Using your hands mix them well until a crumble forms.
Freeze this for 30 minutes then put on top of pie and bake at 375 for an
hour or until it is golden brown on top!
Enjoy this apple favorite!
It's ready to go into the oven!
A
I add yummy Vanilla ice cream and whip cream!
I also drizzled this sweet agave nectar syrup on top!
Go Golos!
