Financial sector reforms: BoG cautioned against printing new notes to compensate depositors

Between 2018 and 2019, over 20 banks and savings and loans companies collapsed in Ghana. There were other financial institutions that also collapsed. Hundreds of Ghanaians who had their monies locked up have been petitioning the government to come to their aid. There'sbeen rumours that the government plans to print new currencies and distributing it to those whose funds have been locked up. Some experts in finance have cautioned the government against such a move.
