University Lecturers Exchange Grades For Sex In Some West African Universities 

Ghana is shocked. Especially the tertiary education world. It’s been in shock since yesterday when BBC dropped it’s expose about university lecturers sleeping with students to give them high grades. Everyone held their breaths patiently waiting for this morning and then boom snippets of the video dropped. Prof Gyampo and Dr Butakor being the main names dropped in the snippets.

Students of Gyampo claim to stand with him. What people ask those who stand with Gyampo is that what if that lady was your sister or your cousin,what then,would you still stand with Gyampo?

Lets put aside the criminal and focus on the crime. We love and respect Prof Gyampo but what is wrong is wrong. It’s wise to refrain from passing comments and judging but how could someone who has the responsibility of preparing the youth for the society be involved in such despicable acts.

Some of the lecturers have threatened suing the BBC and we wait to see what comes from that. It’s a shame that they even have the guts to complain and explain instead of keeping quiet and accepting their shame. Hopefully, the university authorities will take disciplinary measures against this lecturers but I also fear they will just set up a committee to investigate the issues and before we know it, we’ve all forgotten about it.
