The alligator turtle lives in the Mississippi region of North America and can grow up to 80 cm and up to 100 kg.
These turtles are hunters, meaning they almost never move.
Their good camouflage helps them get to their prey fish.
They have a fascinating hunting strategy. If they see a fish they slowly open their mouths and their reddish tongue tip moves back and forth like a worm.
A fish can rarely resist that and swims directly between the razor-sharp pine trees which are additionally provided with hooks to hold the prey firmly.
