A fictional story of a six-days marriage via Facebook

a Nigerian man outdid himself by announcing his extraordinary level of strangeness.

On Dec. 30, Shidema Amido posted a request on his Facebook page asking any woman "interested" to become his wife by communicating with him.

The request
Amido's request was unusual. "I am of the age of marriage, I am fully prepared for it, I do not intend to waste time, I sent your requests, and the most eligible will marry on 6 January 2018. The deadline for submission of applications is midnight of 31/12/2017."

"I am serious about this, and please do not say any one that she did not see the request in time, I hope, but good luck," Amido wrote.

Amido received Reiden, but one of them, accompanied by Sophie Egyoma, was the one who got his attention. "I'm interested, just send me through the private messaging service," replied Sophie.

Sophie said she thought it was just a joke and wanted to be involved.

Amido and Sophie were friends on Facebook, but had never spoken directly before Amido's show.

A man on a mission
A direct message sent by Amido to Sophie's private messaging service on Facebook, followed by a Facebook call, would have completely changed Sophie's life.

Two days after their first conversation, Amido traveled to the northern city of Abuja, where Sophie lives, cutting a distance of nearly 500 kilometers.

Sophie said she was waiting for him outside a small shop, as if she were living in a fictional story. "He was, at first sight, the most handsome man I met and Sama and I loved him right away," she said.

After two hours of "eccentric" conversation, he was asked to accompany him to meet his uncle, who lives in the same city.

Asked what she was thinking at the time, Sophie said she thought it was a joke, but she was enthusiastic about it, and felt Amido was an interesting figure.

Traditions converge with modernity
The couple arrived at the house of Amido, who looks like his nephew, does not like to waste time, so he gave him his consent.

Getting family support for the life partner option is an essential part of the culture and traditions of the two Igbo tribes to which the duo belongs. But choosing a future wife through a Facebook ad, and then completing a marriage within six days, is far from the tradition.

At this stage, after a relationship that began just one day ago, Sophie realized that Amido was quite serious, but a question that began to insist on Sophie, how did she stick to marriage with someone she had just met?

"When I saw him for the first time, I found him attractive, but what I did not know was how serious he was in marrying me, and after we met his uncle and wife, I realized that marriage could really happen."

Engagement
After Amido's meeting, Sophie's role was concerned about how she got her family's consent to marry a man she had just met via Facebook.

But the duo felt a great deal of enthusiasm after Uncle's approval, prompting them to decide to get the Sophie family's approval the same day.

Indeed, Sophie told her mother, but the mother said that the final decision was for the older brother of Sophie because her father was dead.

The brother agreed to marry and the wedding was held six days later.

Do you expect eternal happiness?
Amido married Sophie on January 6 at a ceremony in accordance with the tradition of the Igbo tribe, and the couple published pictures of the wedding on Facebook.

Amidou also wrote a commentary saying, "What people thought was a joke is that it is not."

The reactions were mixed as expected, but the number of supporters of the move was considerable.
