Controlled social media?
Lately, major social media platforms are trying to restrict certain content and users from reaching massive audiences on the basis of what they call "restricting hate speech".
**But what exactly is "hate speech"? **
It is clear that "hate speech" in the form of threats and violence is probably not something we want to see on the daily basis, but do opinions count as a "hate speech" now? Some wild dreamers and really angry people might have a point in those "angry" posts, and in terms of freedom of speech, I believe they must have a platform to express their thoughts.
On one hand, it gives us the prospect and understanding that some people really do have opinions and they are to be counted in, because how do we know what is good when we've never seen anything bad? It's quite a rhetorical question to be honest, but if one has never seen poverty, let's say, how does he know what's wealth?
On the other hand, it is a bit scary to realize that unpopular opinions now might be banned from everywhere, because it's usually the most unpleasant ones who speak the truth.
Besides, the idea that people have to follow major narratives given by MSM & governments in the absence of opposite opinions must shake those who can read more than a single headline of the daily news.
The question is, where do we go now for free and independent opinions and news?
