A PIECE FROM A BROKEN HEART

I kept shut eyes
To your endless betrayals.
I stood calm
In the raging storm.
Loving you
Despite my poisoned compassion.
But spellbound you stayed
To your sinful desires.

My eyes hurt
With tears unseen.
My heart ached
With a burden unknown.
And my tongue heavy
With words unspoken.
Yet you stayed blind
To your conscience and reason.

I lived lost
In this world that I know.
Time stood still
But my sufferings endured.
And to life I clung with a faith unknown
Despite the absence of hope in sight.
Keeping faith alive
That time will heal.

So I lived each day
In loneliness and pain.
My nights cursed
With endless star gaze.
My mind littered
With thoughts not holy.
For life without true love
Is an existence so void.

My faith lingered
But my hope was lost.
For my one and only love
Has chosen another.
And life with love lost
Is impossible for me.
So this path I must walk
To live free once again.

Please fare me well
If your conscience permits.
With flowers and scents
On my lonely grave stone.
For your memories alone
Will journey with me.
To a realm where life
Is blissful and eternal.
