Grasshoppers in the peat bog
This is an overview of the species of grasshoppers I have found so far in the local peat bog near my home town in The Netherlands.
A pair of lesser marsh grasshoppers (Chorthippus albomarginatus) sunbathing:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 165mm, ISO100, f5.6, 1/320s
This is a bog meadow bush-cricket (Metrioptera brachyptera) in his usual habitat, which is heather:
Olympus XZ-1, 112mm, ISO200, f5.6, 1/200s
A rare large marsh grasshopper (Stethophyma grossum):
Olympus XZ-1, 112mm, ISO100, f6.3, 1/100s
A small one called short-winged conehead (Conocephalus dorsalis):
Olympus Stylus 1s, 200mm, ISO160, f8, 1/400s
The dark bush-cricket (Pholidoptera griseoaptera):
Olympus XZ-1, 112mm, ISO400, f4, 1/80s
This one seems to be investigating rabbit droppings. I think it is another lesser marsh grasshopper:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 265mm, ISO100, f2.8, 1/800s
Thanks for watching!
