Artist Of The Day - Archie Forrest
This a series where I feature a specific artist, which came about when we obtained a bulk supply of art books and catalogues at an auction (of course)! I really enjoyed listing the books and catalogues online as I got acquainted, in a way, with so many stunningly talented artists! In the process I have learnt quite a bit about my own taste in art, which was not something I had really thought about before.
Today's artist is the Scottish Contemporary Colourist, Archie Forrest. I discovered Colourists use intense colours in their paintings, and the use of colour is more important than the subject of the painting. The colours are meant to represent and evoke certain emotions. This style of painting has its roots in Impressionism. Archie Forrest was born in 1950 and is a full time artist who holds himself to exacting standards, and never compromises on quality.
