Auction Finds - A little bit of this...and...
Yet another mixed bag of my recent online auction listings!
I think most people know that vintage motoring related items are very popular collectibles and can be worth quite a bit of money. Old motor oil cans and signs sell very well in particular. But this was the first time I have ever found a vintage motor oil bottle! This bottle received quite a few bids and eventually sold for R755 ($59). One of my regular buyers bought it and said he paid more than he wanted to. But if you consider an item's rarity and you really want it, what amount is really too much to pay?!
Two fantastic vintage wooden crates!
And two vintage bottle openers. These used to be very desirable, but their popularity has since waned.
A vintage ceramic jar commemorating South Africa's The Great Trek/Die Groot Trek (trek = move) where the Afrikaner people moved inland from the coast of South Africa.
This mug falls into the advertising and africana categories. Sanlam is a South African insurance company, and there are a few collectors who specialise in banking and insurance company memorabilia (why???). Verwoerdburg is a South African area between Johannesburg and Pretoria, now re-named Centurion. (Verwoerd was the architect of apartheid.)
A few interesting match books.
A wonderful vintage Chevrolet manual.
Dewar's White Label Scotch Whiskey vintage promotional figurine.
Coleman camping lamp spares. Anything related to Coleman camping lamps are very good sellers.
A lovely old tea tin!
And to end off, a retro c1970's German ceramic vase.
