Running my 'Dr Phil' bot has been interesting. But whales still voting with 100% upvotes are taking the lionshare.
Initially I set the bot to vote at 100% because I didn't see a lot of post per day. I soon realized there where a lot of 'bm' accounts that posting quite rapidly at a certain time of day. When they started posting, my voting power plummeted to 10%.
Bot Success
I took a few days off voting to replenish my voting power. When I reached 50% voting power I reactivated the bot with a setting change to skip 'bm-open' tags and began voting at 1% for everyone.
That worked so well, that I shut the bot down, changed the voting level to 25% and left it running while I went to work.
This morning I have checked on my voting power and it is still holding around 50%. That's great! We need to spread the rewards around in Golos to get people excited about the platform. This is a great way to do it.
Still A Whale Problem
I analyzed a post on the trending page to see what the whales where voting on. It seems many don't understand that voting at 100% takes all the reward pool out of the hands of the little users. When the little users get nothing, they won't stay. Without people on the platform, the whales will have 100% of nothing. This is short-sighted thinking.
I will continue to encourage this behavior to change. If you are a whale who wants things to improve. You should downvote the whales that are hogging all the rewards pool each day. Spread the rewards to the little people and let them build the platform for you.
