The Good Shepherd - 1

There are good and bad things, there are good and bad people, likewise, there are good and bad shepherds. I want to talk about this particular shepherd who is good which is Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is the good shepherd that wants peace and salvation for his sheep; a shepherd that laid his life for his sheep. I will be analyzing the book of Psalms 23. Most of us know what the psalm is saying but do we really look into it to know what the psalmist is saying to us?

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

Let's start from verse 1

• The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

A shepherd will not want his sheep to suffer any good thing as he will always find what is good for the sheep. So likewise is Jesus who is ready to provide all that we need for us only if you are truly his sheep.

• He makes me lie down in green pastures.
  He leads me beside still waters.

A shepherd will always take the sheep to where there are greener pastures, where the sheep can be able to feed well and get good water.
God will always provide for his own people. He will give you the best of the best and satisfy you according to his will for your life.

• He restores my soul.
  He leads me in paths of righteousness
  for his name's sake.

When you are fed with good food and water, your soul will be restored. With the Word of God and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, you will be at peace and you will enjoy the fullness of God. Every step of yours will be guided by the leading of Christ to the path of God's will to reign with Him at the end of time.
