How to make a greek frappe ice coffee ! Video with me making it and history of the coffee drink!
Hello my friends another cooling coffee beverage today named frappe! Frappe is iced instant coffee made by hitting either a shaker or a special mixer creating foam. its name comes from the eponymous French word (frappe), which means beaten. It is served with several ice cubes and you drink it with a straw. Discovered in Greece and is not made in other countries, to the disappointment of many Greeks living abroad. The raw material of frappe is used in many places but nowhere served as frappe.
In order to make a frappe you will need only 3 -5 ingredients1.
- Nescafe instant coffee 1 tbsp
- cold water 10ml
- icecubes 6 big
- sugar(optional)
- milk (optional)
In order to make a frappe you will need a special mixer (you will see it on the video bellow) If you don't have it you can do it with a shaker for cocktails!Put nescafe, sugar and a little water on the shaker and mix it very well! when you end mixing it should be like a light brown cream. Put this cream in a glass and then add icecubes water and milk if you like..
You can also make it with vanilla ice cream.
In a ballon glass put the necafe cream with the ice cream.
and then put water!
now mix it with the straw till the ice cream melts and your ice cream frappe is READY!!!
History of frappee
Frappe measuring about 60 years of life. Amazingly, it accidentally discovered in 1957. At the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki. Yiannis Dritsas, representative of the company Nestlé in Greece, presented a children's drink with chocolate. The recipe was simple. Milk, chocolate powder, hit in shaker and ready to drink. During a break, an employee of the company, Dimitris Vakondios wanted to drink ordinary coffee which it was instant coffee of nestle company, which is mixed with hot water, with a spoon, adding sugar. but he couldn't found hot water and having seen many times his boss showing the chocolate drink with shaker, he decided to do the same using instead of chocolate powder, coffee, who shuffled with cold water. Thus created by chance the famous coffee frappe.
